The 'Alexa' Boot

Posted By: Rosie Savage, 25 January 2012

With a walkably high and sturdy heel, reaching to the ankle,
a round-toe (or occasionally pointy and pixie-like) toe cap, and forever on the
oh-so-stylish Alexa Chung; the heeled chelsea boot, or ‘Alexa’ as it should
henceforth be known, is a season-to-season staple.

The British style icon loves them so much, in fact, that
she’s designed a beautiful leopard print pair for her collaboration with
Madewell; a fashionable American brand established in 1937. Placed at the tip
of those enviable legs, she oozes perfection.

Traditionally used as horse-riding shoes in the Victorian
era the Chelsea boot later became popular in the sixties mod scene, lending
itself the nickname the ‘Beatle’ boot – hello John, Paul, George and Ringo in
your matching footwear. Today the boot has, as always seems to be the case,
risen in height. Still, they’re possibly one of the comfiest ways to wear a
heel and make a trendy addition to any outfit.

Teamed with nothing else but a bare pair of legs, a fabulous
shift dress and, ideally, something of the badass leather variety, the ‘Alexa’
will guarantee to work some magic.
